Originally from High Point, NC, Kate attended Choate Rosemary Hall in CT and Duke University where she graduated in 1998 with a BA in Psychology and a Certificate in Markets and Management. After working for George magazine and Sothebys.com in New York, Kate began her interior design career at Tucker and Marks interior design in San Francisco. She then moved to London, UK where she earned a Fine and Decorative Arts Diploma at Christie's Education and her Masters in Historic Interiors and Decorative Arts from The Wallace Collection. Kate stayed in London to work as an Interior Designer for Spencer-Churchill Designs, where she was fortunate to work on homes all over the world. In 2014, Kate and her family relocated to Winston-Salem where they enjoy raising their family and being an active part of the community.

Utilizing her background in decorative arts and interior design, Kate truly enjoys guiding and supporting clients throughout the portrait process. After understanding the client's vision, Kate curates a portfolio presentation based on their preferred aesthetic, medium, and pricepoint. Once the artist is selected, Kate organizes the client meeting with the artist for the sitting or photos. Kate will organize virtual meetings if the artist will work from client-supplied photos. Throughout, Kate enables smooth communication between the client and artist while ensuring that everyone is thrilled with the final portrait. She is also happy to assist in framing and installation decisions. Overall, Kate's goal is to ensure a joyful experience for all involved and for the end result to be a beautiful piece of art that both honors the subject and fulfills the wishes of the client, to be treasured now and for generations to come.
