A Successful Spring Portrait Exhibition

A week after our
Spring Portrait Exhibition at Arader Galleries in New York, and we’re still talking about what a wonderful event it was!

We were so proud to display a variety of portraits painted by many of New York’s foremost portraitists.  The portraits were exhibited in a beautiful “old New York” mansion on Madison Avenue at East 79
th Street.  Many of the guests commented on how impressive it is to see the works of art in person.  Several of the portrait subjects were even in attendance at the event. One judge, painted 20 years ago by one our artists, is now an accomplished artist himself.

The highlight of the show was
John Howard Sanden’s lecture, “Painting the President and First Lady: The White House Portraits.” We had a good crowd of around 70 people in attendance to hear him speak about why there are 43 presidential portraits but only 29 first lady portraits and trace the 235-year history of the official White House portraits. Mr. Sanden's talk was not only entertaining and educational, but he had guests on the edge of their seats as he shared his personal experience painting the official White House portraits of President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.
