We are so excited about our Spring Portrait Exhibition in New York and hope you’ll make plans to join us! The event will feature New York’s finest portrait artists on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7-8, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Arader Galleries (1016 Madison Avenue, New York City, NY 10075).
Not only will there be beautiful portraits on display, but there will be a special lecture by Artist John Howard Sanden, “Painting the President and First Lady: The White House Portraits” on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
He will answer questions about which artist has painted the most presidential portraits, why there are 43 presidential portraits but only 29 first lady portraits and more.
Mr. Sanden will trace the 235-year history of the official White House portraits, looking most closely at the artistic triumphs that ornament the collection.
He will also recall highlights of his own experience in creating the official portraits of President and Mrs. George W. Bush that were unveiled at the White House on May 31, 2012.
Donations will be accepted at the lecture to support Artists’ Fellowship, Inc., a charitable foundation that assists professional fine artists, such as painters, graphic artists, printmakers and sculptors and their families in times of emergency, disability or bereavement.
To make an appointment to attend the exhibition or R.S.V.P. to the lecture, call 212.258.2233 or email info@portraitsinc.com.
